how was the concentration of co2 used to measure the rate of photosynthesis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here's the overall equation: 6 CO2 + 6 H2O --> C6H12O6 + 6 O2 During photosynthesis, would you expect the concentration of CO2 to go up or down? How do you think that might be related to the rate of photosynthesis? Try to imagine what would happen if the reaction were to get faster: would the concentration of CO2 change faster or slower?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

during photosynthesis co2 is consume so the concentration would decrease. so if the rate of photosynthesis increase, the concentration of co2 change faster. am i right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you! but is my explanation enough/complete? bcs i need to write it for a report.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it should be complete enough, though you might want to give the formula as well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you so much!

No problem!
