Suggestion: On forums like Soul-Arena, Beta Forums, Zeta Forums, and the popular boards 4Chan, there are sticky and announcement topics. Basically stickied topics are kept in a private section and can be retrieved by members at anytime. For example, you can make a sticky of math tutorial topics so members can view that archive anytime and get information or help on a general topic.
On top of stickied topics I am also suggesting announcement topics. These announcements will show up on the front page of each section. Usually the announcement topics will remain somewhere at the top of the page, and will hold rules, regulations, and general information for this specific topic. It can also hold other stuff like upcoming events, an announcement in the system, an announcement that there is a bug and if you have trouble that is why, an announcement for new tools added, etc, etc, etc. Both of these will be beneficial to the OpenStudy site as a whole. Regards, Stephen.
Tutorial Archive-Great idea.
That's the basic idea.
We've neglected "old" questions for a while now, because we think the interaction between the helper and student is just as valuable as the end result, but I do think that some point soon we'll be examining a way to highlight really solid, old questions (tutorials, etc). It's not on our short term road map, but it's been talked about more and more recently. If and when we do this, it will need to be more than just a list of questions, so there's gotta be some heavy thought put in. So yea, we're definitely looking at ways to solve this. As far as announcements go, we do have an announcement mechanic that you may have seen previously. Just a little yellow bar that appears on the top of this right pane that you can expand for information. We use that for a lot of the purposes you list, besides things like group rules and whatnot. I don't know where you're envisioning this section, but I don't like the idea of putting it with the questions, and our layout is already a bit busy. I don't see a huge need for this, but I do think it would be nice.
