divide 4x^4-15x^3-5x^2-12+1 / 3x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that supposed to be -12x near the end there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because, otherwise it simplifies to -11 for the constant.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Anyway, just use distributive property and divide each term separately by the 3x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry bout that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u help me solve this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like I said, just take each term in the numerator and divide by the 3x. e.g. 4x^4/3x = 4x^3/3, and the -12x+1 at the end would become -4+1/3x. You can fill in the rest.
