What's your question about them?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Or where are you stuck?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

I think what most people have a problem with is the +-sqrt() so lets think about the square root of 4. what number(s), if we multiply by itself, will be 4? well 2*2 = 4 and (-2)*(-2)=4 so the square root of 4 (sqrt(4)) = +-2 that is 2 and -2 are the square roots of 4 so if we have y^2 = x and we are trying to solve for y ( get y alone on the left hand side) we have y^2 = x so y = sqrt(x) and y = -sqrt(x) (we write this as +-sqrt(x)) hope this helps.
