ok this one is totally confusing me...please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[a ^{1/3} / a ^{-3/4} a ^{1/4}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a^ 2/3 is ans?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you trying to simplify? And is the a^1/4 in the numerator or denominator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

simplify with positive exponent, yes that is numerator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you divide equal numbers with exponents, you subtract the denominator's exponent from the numerator's. When multiplying equal numbers with exponents, you add the exponents together

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is tat -2 or -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so sorry, 1/4 is apart of denominator and it's a -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer is 1 :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{a^{1/3}}{a^{-3/4}a^{1/4}} = a^{4/12-3/12+9/12} = a^{5/6}.\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

? I think . . .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1346547880964:dw| whoops its -1/6 srry
