does 2 log(base5)x+1/2log(base5)y-4log(base5)z=log(base5) x^2sqrt/z^4. What properties did you use in making decision.

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

what log rules are you already familiar with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am having lots of trouble with these:( I know change of base.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And that if logbx=logby that x=y

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

this requires just the basic log rules

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

have a look here to see these basic rules: http://www.purplemath.com/modules/logrules.htm

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

if you are still stuck after this, then let me know and I will try and guide you further.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so maybe I am overthinking it? I am just really confused by this..going now to purple math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

After reading I think that this equation is true, am I correct?

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

it is, but I believe you missed a 'y' in the right-hand-side of the equals sign (inside the sqrt)

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

What happened to the "y" term?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are correct, I did

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

the main point here is do you know how to get to this answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes because they are all log base 5 so then use the properties to see what the other side would equal :)

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

ok - thats good. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

yw :)
