you are on a bicycle trip. you traveled 52 miles the first day. since then, your average rate has been 12 miles per hour. what algebraic expression models the distance you traveled so far?
First day we travel 52 miles since then we have traveled with an average rate of 12 miles/hour Let we travel for h hours more after the first day we know distance= speed (or rate) * time so distance traveled in h hours= 12*h=12h so what's the total distance we have traveled til now?
im sorrry my teacher gave me the worksheet without teaching me.. i was absent the day she tought it :/ can you explain a little more?
np. Which part you have confusion?
@AdrianaMaria2011
how can i get the final distance?
12h+52???
We already know that we have covered 52 miles the first day. Now we need to find the distance which we traveled at average rate for 12 miles /hour, let it be d so our answer is 52+d miles any doubts with this?
no. it fits right in.. i just dont read careful :c
Distance is the product of average speed and time. Let we have traveled for h hours after the first day, then distance d is given as \[d=12\times h=12h\] do you get this?
it's 12h miles never forget units :)
i guet it (: thank you soooo much!
you're welcome:)
