im a little rusty on my math im taking a college algebra class can i get some help with this?smplify 25/6 +7/2

OpenStudy (barrycarter):

Hint: common denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To add two fractions, make the denominators of both the fractions same. In this case, since 6 can be seen as 2x3, it is advisable to modify 7/2 as 7*3/2*3, which gives you 21/6. Now adding with 25/6 gives you (25+21)/6 = 46/6

ok thankyou so much! wat about multiplying or example 9/8*5/12......would i do the same?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for this one i tried multiplying 8 by 3 and 12 by 2 so i could get 24 for both of them is that right?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

When you multiply fractions, there is no need to get the LCD

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Just multiply straight across

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Don't forget to reduce as much as possible

OpenStudy (anonymous):
