I don't want to give you a straight up answer, but simply think of how ribosomes function. They are essentially the factory where polypeptide chains are produced. So, if ribosomes are being destroyed, then these polypeptides are not being produced, which means proteins are being folded; therefore, you're looking at somebody being deficient in proteins vital to life. It is quite possible that death is a long term effect.
