Tell me one specific instance where science was or is being used to make decisions.
Well. Science is used to decide what kind of crops can be grown in an area depending on its soil type.
This is what i have to do... can you help??Interview a parent, teacher, or someone in your community. Ask the person you interview to tell you one specific instance where science was or is being used to make decisions. Once you have interviewed the person, you will summarize your interview by filling out the summary page.
What is a summary and what does it mean to summarize? Summarizing is how we take larger selections of text and reduce them to the bare essentials. Summarizing means including only the MOST important information. A summary tells the main idea of the text. What is a summary and what does it mean to summarize? Step One (5 pts): After your interview or article reading, write down (list) the important (key) points or words from the article’s text or from the interview. You must list 10 points! 1. 6. 2. 7. 3. 8. 4. 9. 5. 10. Step Two (15 pts): From your notes, create a maximum of five sentences summarizing what you have read or learned in the interview. Try to keep each sentence to 20 words or less. By doing this you will eliminate the fluff that writers put into text to make the reading more interesting. It will take you right to the point of the text and will be easier to remember! For a 5 sentence paragraph you could use the following guidelines: sentence 1 –Introduce the reader to who you interviewed or what you read. sentence 2, 3, & 4 – Tell the reader the important information from our article or interview sentence 5 – Tell your reader how the information in the article or interview showed how science is used in decision making. Write your summary paragraph here: Step Three (5 pts): Cite Your Resources If you chose the interview for your citation must include Name of person interviewed, their relation to you, date interviewed, and a phone number or email address at which they could be reached Example: Theresa Smouse. Parent. 1/26/2009. miss_smouse@yahoo.com If you chose to read an article with an author your citation must include: Author’s Name (Last, first). Title of article. Title of Journal, Magazine or website article found in. Date of Publication (if on web and no publication date, use date retrieved). If from website include URL address. Example: Interview: Theresa Smouse. Parent. 1/26/2009. miss_smouse@yahoo.com Article: Smouse, Theresa. "Science Will Prevail.” Chem4Kids. Retrieved January 21, 2009. <www.chem4kids.com>. If you chose to read an Article or Web Page with NO AUTHOR you need to include: Title of the Web Page. Who or What Group sponsors the web page. Date retrieved. The Web Address. Example: NASA Goes to Mars. NASA – Kennedy Space Center. Feb. 5, 2009. www.nasakids.gov. Put your citations here:
