Can someone please explain how Faraday's Law works in physics?

OpenStudy (ghazi):

if you are talking about faraday's laws ..then there are two fundamental laws first as long as change in magnetic flux or field occurs there will be an induced emf ... second law is value of that induced emf is equal to rate of changing magnetic flux

OpenStudy (ghazi):

but then lenz's law came which stated that....the direction of induced emf is given by negative of generating effects

OpenStudy (ghazi):

lenz's law says that 'it opposes the cause that produces it'

OpenStudy (ghazi):

\[emf= -\frac{ d \phi }{ dt }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What does the negative sign denote?

OpenStudy (ghazi):

negative sign denotes the direction

this link will help you so much.... http://electron9.phys.utk.edu/phys136d/modules/m8/inductance.htm
