divide by -3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
for inequalities, whenever you divide both sides by a negative number, you must change the signs
OpenStudy (anonymous):
by both sides ?
hartnn (hartnn):
and remember to flip the sign, because u are dividing by a negative quantity.
hartnn (hartnn):
yes,by both sides.

flip the sign ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
if you do something to one side, you ALWAYS do it to the other
OpenStudy (anonymous):
from < to > or > to <
hartnn (hartnn):
yup,
-3n<-15
so
n>(-15)/(-3)
n>5
ok ?

with practice,u will understand it better :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok basically
1< 5 -- 1 is less than 5, this is true right
if we multiply both sides by -1
-1*1<-1*5
-1<-5 -- -1 is less than -5, this is false
-1>-5 -- -1 is greater than -5, we change the sign around so things will make sense
