A classmate tells you, "Finding the coordinates of a midpoint is easy. You just find the averages." Is there any truth to it? Explain what you think your classmate means.

OpenStudy (arlen):

(x1+x2)/2 and (y1+y2)/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mid = half = total/2 What do you think?

OpenStudy (arlen):

@Mira_white isn't it a mean?

OpenStudy (arlen):

\[\frac{ x1+x2 }{ 2 } and \frac{ y1+y2 }{ 2 }\]

OpenStudy (arlen):

where (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) are two end point coordinates

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if mid is half and she says that its just finding averages then she is wrong? She means to say what though? I don't understand what she might have meant.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Should you look up the meaning of average ?

OpenStudy (arlen):

she is absolutely right...

OpenStudy (arlen):

average means total sum divided by number of elements
