Grade 12 Advanced Functions help please! Use the degree and the sign of the leading coefficient to determine the value of the constant finite differences. f(x) = -4x^3 +2x^2 - x +5
How do I do that? I know the degree is 3, and the sign is negative... Thanks!
I don't know what constant finite diff. Is but i think it will be -2x. I got this by dividing the first term by the second term
no that's not the answer but thanks anyways
Does anyone else know?
using calculas .
is that ok?
It can be done without calculus.
sure
You can make a long table of values
I think a short-cut is to multiply the leading coefficient by twice the degree.
It works for this example and another that I tried, but it might not work in all cases.
-4x3x2x1
Since the degree of the function is 3 . we look at -4x^3
the 3th diferences are constant.
Thanks ~ I haven't taken calculus yet so I just had to make really long tables for all of my questions. I got the right answers tho! :)
