In a certain year the amount A of garbage in pounds produced after t days by an average household is given by A= 5.5t. Graph the equation t>0. How many days did it take for the average household to produce 200 pounds of garbage? Please help. So confused. (I got that it is 36.36 days) but I am lost as how to graph this, any help?

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

need the fromula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your A would be the X-Axis and the t would be the Y-axis. So your first coordinate would be (5.5, 1) and then (10.1, 2) and you do that until you've reached 36 or 37 days.

my question asks the average for a 100 pounds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could you type in the exact question please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in a certain year the amount of A garbage in pounds produced after t days by an average household is given A=5.5t graph the equation for t>0 how many days did it take a household to produce 100 lbs of garbage

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if I can get the formula to do the equation I can figure it out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You already have your equation. A = 5.5t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's like saying y=5.5x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and I was wrong before, A is the Y-axis and t is the X-axis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now if you know the equation A=5.5t and you want to know the number od days for 100lbs. Your new equation becomes 100=5.5t Now divide 100 by 5.5 and you should get 18.181818 That's the number of days required for 100 lbs of trash. Now if you want to graph it, go with this equation, y = 5.5x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do I graph the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(5.5, 1) , (10.1, 2) , (15.15, 3), until 18-19 days.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Although I suggest going by multiples of 2 and be very careful! They only want non-negative numbers. So everything should remain at 0 or higher.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem.
