Need help factoring polynomials 5t^3 - 21t^2 + 18t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

t(5t-6)(t-3)

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

first take outt ; = t(5t^2 - 21t + 18) now you need to use factors of 18 and also 5 to figure out how to get 18 as a product and also to add to get -21 it will be like (5x )(x ) -6 and -3 will fit the bill so we get t(5t - 6)(t - 3)

thanks for the explanation, question, does this mean the polynomial is not prime???

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yes - if its prime it would not factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get it thanks, the 5 threw me off.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

ok - yw - yea its a bit more complicated when you have a number before the x^2
