Once you cancel out the denominators, what do you get?
4/3x changed to 4x
2/3 changed to 2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
And what does 6 change into?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i come up with the same 12x + 6 = 6
OpenStudy (lgbasallote):
how??
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i just moved the =6 down

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):
i said multiply all terms by 3
\[\frac 43 x \times 3 \implies \frac 4{\cancel 3} x \times \cancel 3 \implies 4x\]
\[\frac 23 \times 3 \implies \frac2 {\cancel 3} \times \cancel 3 = 2\]
OpenStudy (lgbasallote):
then 6 * 3 is 18
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok 4 x 3 = 12 and 3 x 2 = 6
OpenStudy (lgbasallote):
no....
OpenStudy (lgbasallote):
you already multiplied by 3..why multiply again?

i just said multiply by 3...and that's already done. you DON'T multiply by 3 AGAIN
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Leave the numerators as they are. You are canceling out the denominators to get rid of a fraction.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
im getting all F ed up right now l
OpenStudy (anonymous):
4/3x + 2/3 = 6
Divide ALL terms by 3. 4/3 is ONE term 2/3 is ONE term. We want to get rid of the fractions:
4/3x *3 = 4x
2/3 *3 = 2
6 * 3 = 18
So:
4x + 2 = 18
Now solve for x.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Does that help?

how do i solve for x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Solve for x:
4x + 2 = 18
-2
4x = 16
/4
x =
what do you get?
