)In what way did Roman culture influence the habits of the Byzantine emperor during the Byzantine period? Byzantine emperors gave more of their political power to their generals. Byzantine emperors gave themselves more of an appearance of splendor. Byzantine emperors gave more charitable support to the lower class. Byzantine emperors gave the senate more say in imperial decisions.
I REALLY DONT KNOW THE ANSWER SORRY ABOUT IT :(
Its okay thanks anyways tho!
thanks for atleast trying
The Byzantines saw themselves as the true inheritors of the Roman legacy especially after the Western half of the Roman Empire collapsed leaving them as the only real superpower left standing in the Mediterranean. For a few centuries, at least! A lot of the bureaucratic and aristocratic functions of the Roman Empire were simply kept alive by the Byzantines as a result - and some of the things that weren't so great. Like the Roman emperor, the Byzantine emperor's power was absolute - there was no question of their authority. That didn't keep popular generals, family members, or palace eunuchs from scheming their way to the throne, however. The lower classes were still expected to pay their taxes and charity wasn't on the minds of the rich and powerful in Byzantium other than feeding them "bread and circuses" to keep them happy. But when push came to shove as it did with Justinian I, they weren't above slaughtering anyone who threatened the peace. Nor was giving any power to their version of the senate which was little more than a rubber stamp to everything the emperor wanted. But like the Romans, Byzantine emperors loved to build monuments and shower the capital with building projects to honor themselves and gain a sense of immortality to remind the world that they had been there. This even went as far as to create churches to their faith and make additions to existing ones such as the Hagia Sophia which still exists today. So of all the things that they have in common with the Roman emperors from the list, that's probably what makes the most sense.
