Which is proper - "AT common law" or "UNDER common law"? Or, is it "AT THE common law" or "UNDER THE common law"? Is it that any of those versions are acceptable? "At" seems to imply a place. Also, using "the" implies that what follows is something specific, so I'm thinking it should read, "under common law."

AT also modifies specific time/place
