solve by factoring: 8x^2+6x-2=0 so far i have simplified it to: 2(x+1)(4x-1)=0 how do i solve the rest of this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll take your word for it, looks pretty well factored to me..:-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just do not know how to solve for x with the 2 in the front

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You could divide both sides by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. i know that you have to separate each part that is in parenthesis and then set the two parts each equal to zero. so can i take the first part...2(x+1)...and set that whole part equal to zero?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, and then you can get rid of the 2 by doing what estudier said to do. divide both sides by 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thank you
