how would u make 4tsquared+2t+1 a perfect square trinomail?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

4t^2+2t+1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

first devide away the 4 t^2+(1/2)+(1/4) cool?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

sorry: t^2+(1/2)t+(1/4)

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

now we take half the coefficient of the second term, and we put it inside with ()^2 along with the variable (t+(1/4))^2 and then we square it(half the 2nd term coeficient), and ADD it to the RHS of the equation. we also MOVE the c term to the RHS of the equation(c term here is (1/4). (t+(1/4))^2= -(1/4) + (1/4)^2

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

say when

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

now we just solve for t can you do this part?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

you will have two answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok yeah i can do this part thanks

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

np you can always do this to solve for these things. If you get good at it, you can pretty much do it in your head.
