First of all, the answer here is \[f(x)=2x ^{2} - 8\] The first thing here that tips you off about the answer is the y-intercept. The function on the graph hits the y-axis at -8. If you look at the answer choices, \[f(x)=2x ^{2} - 8\] is the only one with a y-intercept of -8. If you want to confirm that that's the right answer, you can look at the x-intercepts. The function hit's y=0 at x=-2 and x=2. Plug those values of x into the function, and you get 0. Bingo.
