What does gain in momentum practically mean?
gain in velocity is alright but gain in mass?? :O
That is Only in the Case when..Mass is not Constant
Eg: Rocket
When a man jumps out of a boat to the shore, the boat slightly moves backwards..
we say he gains momentum,to counterbalance boat moves back..so he is gaining mass?
Since...the man...Gives Some force to Boat...
in that case mass is constant...)
so,why don't we say he is gaining "velocity"?
Can u be Specific
P=MV M=Constant,so he is basically gaining only velocity?sowhy we say momentum..)
owhy we say momentum.??????
yeah,coz no effect on mass?
F = ma F = m dv/dt
?
Compare a 100 kg man running at 10 m.s−1 with a bullet of mass 40 g and speed 500 m.s−1. KE the same but the man's momentum has a magnitude 1,000 kgm.s−1 while the magnitude of bullet's momentum is only 20 kgm.s−1. there is one practical meaning....
oop,posted in maths..sorry!
oops*
Math and Physics sort of connected (should be)
hmm..yeah
Or , better Applied Math and Physics...
