A typical bacterium has a diameter of about 10^-6 meters. A hydrogen atom has a diameter of 10^-10 meters. How many times smaller than a bacterium is a hydrogen atom? Is it 10^-4 or do you divide and if so what is the answer please?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you are correct

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

10^(-6)*10^(-4) = 10^(-10)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Jim should it be written Like this 10^-10 or like you have it 10^ (-10)?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

they say the same thing, but calculators like 10^(-10) better

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait is the answer to my problem that I posted 10^-4 or is it 10^-10

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

10^-4 or 10^(-4)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I prefer to write it as 10^(-4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok was just making sure thank you for your help. :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
