limit of radical function: lim x→0 (squareroot (x+64) - 8 )/x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

By radical function, do you mean a function with some root in it (square root, etc.)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. i edited the question with a written out equation

The use of L'Hospital's Rule is extremely useful in this case. L'Hospitals rule is useful for determining limits when plugging in the value results in 0 over 0, or infinity over infinity. The method includes deriving the numerator, and deriving the denominator seperately, in your case this would turn out to be \[\lim_{x \rightarrow 0}\frac{ \frac{ 1 }{ 2 } (x+64)^{-1/2}}{ 1 }\] Now try to solve :)
