I've seen this plentiful in books and answers to questions on Q/A sites, yet not understand its meaning: what does "(Why?)" mean?
post it in literature section :P
Why = Give me a reason...? Is this philosophy?
No, really, they put "Why?" in the brackets. Let me find something as an example.
"HINT: One of the numbers a,a+2, and a+4 must be divisible by 3. Why?" http://math.stackexchange.com/questions/189179/if-a-a2-and-a4-are-prime-numbers-then-how-can-one-prove-that-there-is
parentheses is a puctuation technique (got it parth ?) http://changingminds.org/techniques/language/punctuation/parentheses.htm
What I said - Why = Give me a reason...? (or give yourself a reason)
Of course, I do know what parentheses are, but why do people type "Why?" like in the example?
One of the numbers a,a+2, and a+4 must be divisible by 3. It is an assertion, needs to be verified --> Why (is it true)?
