atoms with 5 valence electrons usually form how many bonds?

ok now lets take some logic and put it in this question, if you have covalent bond than electrons are shared or if you have ionic bond electrons are exchanged but nevertheless it takes one electron from each atom to form a bond, one electron from one atom and one from other so what do you think now the answer is?

Keep in mind that the "magic number" of electrons that an atom "desires" is 8. If you are familiar with the Bohr atomic model, or the more accurate atomic orbital theory, 8 electrons is the desired outcome of just about every atom on the periodic table.
