Use a straightedge and a compass to construct a triangle with 2 sides having the same length. Describe the process you used. Now use a protractor to measure each angle of the triangle. What are the measures of each angle?

You'll actually have to draw it, but as a clue, both the angles will be the same, so you really only need to measure one side. =) When you have a triangle with two sides of the same length, the angles (at the bottom) are the same as well, by what's called the base angles theorem.

can I do it without a compass and a protractor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Without a compass, probably, but I would use a protractor. If you don't have one, you may be able to print a paper one off the internet somewhere?
