What is the focus of the following graph?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the focus is the same distance away from the vertex as the directix is, but inward

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so -4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

not -4

OpenStudy (amistre64):

where is your vertex located?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not exactly sure..

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the focus is located by a distance from the vertex, if you have no idea what the vertex is ..... then youre asking the wrong question :/

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you were to take a guess, what would your best guess be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm..3? where the straight line is?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thats something we can work with: the line itself is called a directix; and its distance away from the vertex is important to us. the place where the curve is bending and turning the opposite direction is called a vertex

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 4?

OpenStudy (amistre64):
