A gauge reads 45 psi. The absolute pressure is _?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think 1 atm = 14.5 PSI at STP, so the absolute can be figured as (gauge + standard atmosphere)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 45 + (45*14.5)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just the sum. 45+14.5 = absolute pressure (in psi)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!

If the gauge reads zero, it's still actually under 1atm of pressure, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe so
