As temperature increases, what affect does it have on interactions between water molecules

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As each molecule gets hotter, it moves more quickly and the molecules become less dense.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But what happens to the cohesion?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would it be correct to say when water is colder the cohesion is greater?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe that's correct. I'm sorry, I don't know too much about this, but I believe that the cohesion is 'stronger' when the water is colder, as the molecules are denser. When it's hot, the molecules become less dense and have a lesser cohesion.

Thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried. :) Sorry if I wasn't much help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Water molecules move at a faster rate when heated.
