OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):
y >/= 3x - 5
y < 3x - 5
y < 1/3x - 5
The correct inequality is not listed.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
No Equal sign(< or >)... Dashed Line
Equal sign(<= or >=)... Solid Line
Check which slope works best. Remember:\[\frac{ rise }{ run }\]
OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):
whats dashed and solid?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
On your graph check to see which it is:
Dashed line is ---------
Solid line is a line with no gaps.
OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):
in this case its dashed??

Yep. Since Dashed line means there is no "equal to", you have these two options left:
y < 3x - 5
y < 1/3x - 5
So check which slope works.
OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):
How?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Test each slope using rise/run.
example: 3/1...start at any point on the line and "rise" 3 units and "run" 1 unit to the right.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So which works?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
1/3 or 3/1

mmm
OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):
-_- idk
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay 3/1(same thing as 3)...Start at point (0, 5). Go up 3 spaces. Then, go right one space...Are you still on the dashed line?
OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):
yes
OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):
well in the shaded part lol

Great! So that's the correct slope; 3. So the answer is: y < 3x - 5
