Need some math help been trying this prob for awhile can someone tell me the answer please? A baseball player hits a ball toward the outfield. The height h of the ball in feet is modeled by h(t) = -16t2 + 22t + 3, where t is the time in seconds. In addition, the function d(t) = 85t models the horizontal distance d traveled by the ball. If no one catches the ball, how long will it stay in the air? Round to the nearest tenth of a second and enter only the number.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The ball lands when h(t) = 0, since height is 0. Try solving for t in the first equation by putting in h(t) = 0. Once you have the time t, I think you have the answer...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so h(t)=-16t+22t+3=0?

Is the answer 1.5?

Stepped away... looks right to me. That's the time t until the ball lands, since h(0) is the ball sitting at height 0 on the ground.
