Question

Why do we suppose a line to be divide ONLY in ratio K:1 when solving for a line in a rectangular coordinate whose points are being divided internally or externally??

K can be anything postive or negative. While solving if it comes out to be postive then point divide internally otherwise externally. It doesnt matter with the choice of K.

You can take also ratio as m:n rather than k:1, here k will be equivalent to m/n
