At a town fair, ten tickets cost eight dollars. How many tickets could you expect to receive for twelve dollars, assuming there is no discount for buying more tickets?

The number of dollars per ticket is the price. So 10 tickets cost 8 dollars, or 8 dollars per 10 tickets, or 8/10 dollars per ticket, which is 80 cents. 12 dollars is more than 8 dollars (obviously), so it should buy more tickets. 12 dollars divided by 8/10 dollars per ticket is 12 divided by (8/10) = 12 x (10/8) = 15 tickets. You can sort of see this... of the 12 dollars, the first 8 buys 10 tickets, just like in the problem. Then you have 4 dollars left, which buys half as many tickets, or 5. All together, you have 15.
