crustaceans are considered to be the ' insects of the water'. they are as successful in the aquatic environment as the insects are on the terrestrial environment. can you consider their present status as a result of a convergent, divergent or parallel evolution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please help ....

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

Convergent evolution. It means two separate lineage that shares a common trait(wings on bats, wings on insects)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not sure if this would be a case of convergent evolution. The question doesn't mention any particular traits that might have evolved independently.

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

Well I just assumed from the question, that Crustaceans were like "insects of water " had implied there was a similar trait between the two different type of species.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Most of the similar traits that I can think of most likely came from a common ancestor. Both insects and crustaceans are arthropods.

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

In that case, its divergent evolution...... Sorry i didnt know they were from the Arthropods.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its divergent? can u explain why please?
