Can some one help me with my homework please...ASAP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HERE IS PROBLEM BELOW.. A Parent died and left an estate to four children. One inherited 1/9 of the estate, the Second inherited 5/81, and the third inherited 17/27. How much did the Fourth Inherited? Type a simplified fractions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok first you need to turn all the fractions to the same denominator do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i dont know how too do that.. can you help me with that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/9+5/81+17/27 =

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help me with the Answer. Also can you Explain how you got the answer and walk me through step by step.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that would be the equation but in order to add the you need all denominaters the same because it makes it much easier soooo..... all of them can be changed to 81 1/9 times by 9 is 9/81 and then 5/81 doesn't need to be changed and then 17/27 times by three is 51/81 so it would be \[\frac{ 9 }{ 81 } + \frac{ 5 }{ 81 } + \frac{ 51 }{ 81 } =\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you understand that ^^^^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since i already typed that up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do I add all of this together and then simplify

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, that would be the next step

OpenStudy (anonymous):

65/81 is the answer Right..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and then you would subtract that from 81/81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because 81/81 is the whole and then your subtracts everyone else s inheritance from that to find out the fourth persons.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-16/81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get a negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is 81/81-65/81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its positive sorry 16/81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so will i take 16/81- 17/27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or 17/81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why do you think you would do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops. sorry i just realized that was the answer lol Math isnt my cup of tea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol its fine good job :) it confuses me a lot too so don't feel bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much for helping me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your welcome
