LCD of 3/5 and 1/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the Greatest common factor of the denominators?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5, 10 , 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 , 40 etc right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48 etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so we see that the 5 and 6 each have 30 in common.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 3/5 = ?/30?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you have to multiply 5(x)=30 so x = 6 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if we multiply the denominator by 6..then we have to do the same thing to the numerator right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the LCM is 6 or 30?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the least common multiple of 5 and 6 cannot be 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5 does not go into 6.. so 30.. right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you understand how to figure the rest out from here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great! good luk
