Letter A is false. This website's definition will eliminate options B, C, & D: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/graphical+user+interface. Think of a webpage. The code is NOT the graphical interface. The HTML code CREATES a graphical interface...which is the webpage, the fonts, the buttons, images, etc. A great example is this photo: http://www.coffeecup.com/files/images/ssp-tutorial-split-screen-preview.PNG . In this photo the graphical interface is on the bottom, but was created by writing code. When a company like Microsoft create the Windows operating system, it is nothing but programming code. The software converts everything into a graphical interface so that the everyday user can see buttons, text, images, windows, etc. As far as the printer is concerned, the code is how the computer and the printer communicate. As a user, we see the graphical interface, which looks like a printer icon at the bottom of your taskbar, or a progress bar, etc.
I should also mention that the printer communicates through hardware as well. The mouse is also hardware, but it is the code that allows the computer to know what clicking is supposed to so and it is the code that allows us to see what it is we are clicking on as well as the mouse's arrow.
