OpenStudy (campbell_st):

its a perfect square hope that helps

@oluwa If you don't recognize this trinomial as a "perfect square trinomial," factor it in the usual way - grouping. x^2+12x+36 = x^2 + 6x + 6x + 36 and proceed. Note that the two numbers that multiply to 36 and add to 12 are 6 and 6. The 12 x of the original trinomial has been separated into 6x and 6x in prepartion for the factoring by grouping.

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

hope so much that this will help you understanding x^2 +12x +36 can be writing x*x +6x +6x +6*6 after you have grouped these like (x*x +6x) +(6x +6*6) and from the first factoriz out x will get x(x+6) and from second factoriz out 6 and will get (x+6) so than will result in the form of x^2 +12x +36=x*x +6x +6x +6*6 = x(x+6) +6(x+6) so now you see that from this you can factoriz out (x+6) and will get (x+6)(x+6) so what sign perfect square of (x+6)^2 so finaly this will be x^2 +12x +36 =(x+6)^2
