a rectangular tank is 8m long, 6m wide, and 6m high.if it is filled with water up to the height of 4m, what is the volume of air left in the tank?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

V = 8 * 6 * 4 what is value of V you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

L X W X H= volume. so 8 X 6 X 6 = total volume. minus the water volume, which is 8 X 4 X 6 and that's the air volume

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@meme_90 did you get the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@uzumakhi why did you use 4 for the height?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because that's the water height... If you minus the water volume from the tank volume, you get the air volume

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bcoz water is upto 4cm and you have to calculate the volume of water only

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@order can you show the solution for it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

V = 192 cm^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok: L X W X H= volume Volume of tank = 8 X 6 X 6 = value 1 Volume of water = 8 X 6 X 4 = value 2 Value 1 - value 2 = volume of air

OpenStudy (anonymous):

calculate volume of air and then subtract from 192

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The volume of water is 192 cm^3... not the air... so you still need to do what uzumakhi and I said to get the final answer. Understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes @order

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What will be the unit?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Unit? volume = m^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The tank and water are in meters... and raising it to the power of 3 give you the volume unit. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so not, 192 cm^3, but 192 m^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the water in the tank ^^
