the difference of a number t and 7 is greater than 10 and less than 20....show me how to write this as an inequality.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

t-7 is greater than 10 and less than 20 t-7 > 10 and t-7 < 20 combine those together so it makes sense c: 10 < t-7 < 20

t-7>10 i understand, but why is it now 10<t-7?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

t-7 > 10 reads "the difference between t and 7 is greater than 10" 10 < t-7 reads "10 is less than the difference between t and 7" they mean the exact same thing, they're just written differently. example : if i am am taller than you... it also means that you are shorter than me. it can be read 2 different ways.
