Find the solution to the following system of equation using matrices. 2x+6y=3 -5x+y=4 ***IDk about matrices... i forget.. :(

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Are you allowed to use a calculator? If not, then do you remember the steps to get a matrix into reduced row echelon form (rref form)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, it's this review thing i'm doing to practice haha and yeah my teacher always lets us use calculators ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but idk the form... can u pls explain that also? :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

oops just meant to say rref, not rref form...but you know what I mean

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what kind of calculator do you have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

atm, just a regular one (texas instruments TI30x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my sis has my graphing calculator atm

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

idk much about the 30x, but I don't think it can handle matrices (could be wrong though)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awww:( so how can i do it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does that mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cramer's_rule

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't think i learned that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's okay then... i'll just wait until i get my graphing calculator and figure it out or ask my teacher later... :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can use elimination

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like make it into one equation?
