substract 13.03-4.96

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13.02 _ 4.96 ------- 8.06 Can you explain to me, how to know where to place the descimals in the rigt place?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can someone explain the placement of the position of the descimal?

OpenStudy (shane_b):

You basically just line up the decimals...then fill in trailing 0's for any missing places that are required to do the vertical subtraction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hello, and thanks for responding. So did I do this one correctly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you there?

OpenStudy (shane_b):

I bounce around here...but yes, you got it right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can I ask you another ?

OpenStudy (shane_b):

sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.72 x.32 ----- 744 1116 ----- 11.804

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does the descimal go where I have it placed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops! corrections....119.04

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its 1.1904

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hello, and thanks for responding.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So how do you kow how many places to count over to put the descimal point?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummmmm.. ok! so you couted over 5 places

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it all depends on many many places well..its hard to explain on yhur ? 3.72*.32 yhu count haw many numbers are behind the decimal and it equals 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for instance on 7.897* .8 yhu would multiply and count how many numbers are behind the decimals so look at the first one 7.897 there are three so count three and on the second there is onlu

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is only one so you count one add them up and yhu have four total behind the decimal so in the answer thats how many yhu cound to the left (: did that help??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me show you htis one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13.02 -4.96 ------- 8.06

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that one is right when subtracting bring the decimal straight down from where it was

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the different between a factor and a multiple?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhmmm i honestly dont know...)= but all ik is that a factor well idk srry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

32.4 X7.0 ----- 226.80

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where does the descimal go?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does it go behind the 6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it goes right where it is (:
