What is the difference between instantaneous speed and average speed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Instantaneous speed is average speed, but at very tiniy bit amount of time. We call that \[v=\frac{\Delta x}{\Delta t}\] when \(\Delta t\) approaches zero.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the speed at some instant of time is Instantaneous speed the average speed in some duration of time is Average speed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Instantaneous speed is the speed in that instant. Average speed is the average speed of an object over a period of time.
