If a line has a slope of 2/5 then a parallel line would have a slope of -2/5 True False

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since this is true/false... why don't you give us your answer and why you think it's either true or false... :) IF you don't have the right idea, I'll help, but this should be something you've seen in class... it's the definition of a slope of a perpendicular line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its true because they just switch the symbol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

False

Example in diagram...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope of a perp line is the "negative reciprocal" So if slope of one line is 2, slope of the perp line is -1/2 if slope is -3, slope of perp line is 1/3 if slope is -1/4, slope of perp line is 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The slope of the perpendicular line would be -(1/m) where m is the slope.

can u guys help with with more please @GottMath
