can someone walk me through this problem?? Solve by completing the square 6x^2-7x=12 i have done this several times and get a strange answer each time.

Are you sure that either 1) the problem is not stated incorrectly, or 2) if stated correctly that you really want to complete the square instead of using the general quadratic solution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If this problem is stated correctly, then you should use the general solution of x = [-b +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)] / (2a) where ax^2 + bx + c = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First step divide through by 6 to make it easier to work with-> x^2 -7x/6 = 2 then (x-7/12)^2 etc as usual....
