I find it hard to believe that I can take a class online and learn without creating a debt I will never be able to pay off. Do we really get feedback in the form of an actual grading system?

Even though it's a free online course, there will be an actual grading system as described in the syllabus of the course. I have copied the relevant section below for your convenience! Grading Policy In this course there will be many types of assignments. Your final grade will be a weighted average of the following: • Finger exercises (available within each lecture video sequence) – 5% • Problem sets – 15% • Midterm exam 1 – 20% • Midterm exam 2 – 20% • Final exam – 40% In order to earn a certificate for 6.00x, students must pass the course with a grade of C or better. The following grading breakdown will apply: • >= 80%: A • >= 65%: B • >= 55%: C

Thanks, I just can't believe this is real. I would have never thought a school would offer to educate for free. If true, MIT has made a statement about themselves as an education institution.

The feedback is a nice touch, but it's still very much for personal edification and improvement. It won't be useful on a CV / resume / or school application, not without directly supervised participation. Not to precipitate on your celebration .. .

Don't worry about it. I completely understand that this is for learning only. The feedback is the extra touch I like. It keeps you on track and stops you if you are going in the wrong direction. Most entry level job inn IT do not care about what kind of degree you have or how much you paid. They look for experience and knowledge. I have worked with the IT departments at all of my positions, I worked directly with their managers and recruiters. Every person has stated that they rarely pay attention to the degrees people have
