5y+2=1/2(10y+4)

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Do you know the first step?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5y + 2 = 1/2(10y + 4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to distribute :) do u follow? what do you get when you distribute the 1/2 and the terms in the parentheses?

OpenStudy (compassionate):

*Facepalm* First you want to multiple 1/2 by everything in the brackets by distributing. 5y + 2 = 5y + 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why face palm @Compassionate ? lol

OpenStudy (compassionate):

I asked him the first step and all he did was space the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol i dont kno wat im suppose to do like for reall

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh lol :) it's okay we just told you :) distribute and if u don't know, just say that you don't know ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know wat to do

OpenStudy (compassionate):

5y + 2 = 5y + 2 You want to do the opposite. Since 5y is being added we will subtract them from each other 5y - 5y = 0 We're left with 0 + 2 = 2 2 = 2 This is true.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i believe that means that there are an infinite amount of solutions... am i correct @Compassionate?? since any number you plug in for y will work because blahblahbalh will always equal blahblahblah :) teehee

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Yes, the solutions are infinite.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can somebody help me please

OpenStudy (compassionate):

I just gave you the answer...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what that the answer but ask for 5y + 2 = 1/2(10y + 4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool i didn't know if i was right or not lol :) and @jeanfelix you need to read the things we write more carefully because we just told you the answer twice.. once from myself and once from @Compassionate

OpenStudy (compassionate):

5y + 2 = 1/2(10y + 4) = Infinite number of solutions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly, because when you solved it turned into 2=2 which means infinite solutions. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you boo
