In a high school that has a total number of 950 students the number of seniors is 3/4 of the number if juniors and the number of juniors is 2/3 of the number of sophomores. If this school has the same number of freshman and sophomores how many students are seniors.

OpenStudy (tamtoan):

let x be the number of freshman, can you write the number of juniors in term of x ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (tamtoan):

this school has the same number of freshman and sophomores the number of juniors is 2/3 of the number of sophomores now can you write the number of sophomores and juniors?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be (2/3)x

OpenStudy (tamtoan):

correct, that's the number of juniors ...sophomores and freshman are the same...so they both would be x ....now the number of seniors is 3/4 of the number if juniors (i believe the word IF should be OF, may typo)...can you write the number of seniors?

OpenStudy (tamtoan):

may = maybe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(3/4)x I think

OpenStudy (tamtoan):

it's 3/4 of the number of juniors ...so it's not (3/4)x ...it's 3/4 of (2/3)x.....so it should be (3/4).(2/3)x = ? then add all the students to get the total, you have a linear equation with one variable, can be solved, try that and if you have any problem, let me know, i'll help again
